Release date: 03/23/07
(Greensboro, NC) — North Carolina existing home sales dipped by 6 percent for February 2007 when compared to the same time period a year ago. However, when compared to last month, unit sales increased by 7 percent.
According to statistics compiled by the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®, 9,004 units were sold in February. Total sales dollars for the month were $1,925,770,291 and the average existing home sales price was up 10 percent to $213,879.
Areas of the state with the strongest sales growth include Jacksonville (22 percent), Pinehurst (15 percent) and Wilson (15 percent). The largest price appreciation was seen in Jacksonville at 21 percent.
In 2006, many previously hot coastal areas experienced a cooling down in both unit sales and prices. However, in February the Outer Banks seemed to be leveling out, posting a zero percent change in total dollars sold from the same month the previous year.
